Ghost message sound with no notification

Update Kompakt first. Before MuditaOS K 1.4.0, group messages were not fully supported, so the phone could play the message tone and show an unread badge for a message you could not open. After updating, owners found those old messages appeared and could be deleted.

1. Update MuditaOS K

1. Make sure Kompakt is connected to the internet
2. Press the Control Center button
3. Tap the Settings icon
4. Tap Software Update
5. If an update is available, tap Update

MuditaOS K 1.4.0 added full group messaging, and 1.6.0 fixed duplicate notifications for texts that arrived after a group message.

2. Check apps you installed yourself

Kompakt has no notification tray. Apps you sideloaded, such as WhatsApp or Signal, can still play a sound, but nothing appears on screen. One owner found the sound was a WhatsApp status like, not a message. Open those apps to see what arrived, or turn off their notification sounds inside each app.

3. Other causes owners have found

• A sound right after you turn the phone on can come from the SD card being detected.
• Receiving a file over Bluetooth plays a system sound with nothing to tap.
• Some owners fixed ghost sounds by removing numbers from their blocked list. This can let spam through again, so try it only if the steps above do not help.
