Why this happens
Kompakt is PTCRB and FCC certified for US networks. AT&T, Verizon and resellers on their networks keep lists of approved phones and can limit service for devices that are not on them. Symptoms: quiet calls or speaker, one side cannot hear, blocked data, missing SMS or picture messages, weak signal in good coverage. We do not recommend Kompakt on AT&T or Verizon.
Try these first
- Activate the SIM in another phone. Put it in an approved phone, make a call and send a text, then move it back to Kompakt. This fixes most cases, though some owners have to repeat it.
- Use a physical SIM instead of eSIM. Several owners resolved it this way.
- Set the APN manually. Ask your carrier for BYOD APN settings and enter them under Settings, Network & Internet, Mobile Network, Access Point Names.
- Tell your carrier it is an unlocked, certified BYOD phone and ask them to make sure your line is not restricted. Ask about their unlock or whitelisting policy.
If none of that works
T-Mobile and carriers that use its network, such as Mint Mobile, Tello or US Mobile GSM, have far fewer reports of this issue. If you switch and the problem stays, write to us with your carrier, plan and IMEI and we will look at the device.
