How do I replace Kompakt parts?

Mudita publishes step-by-step guides for replacing four Kompakt parts yourself: the display, camera, battery and back cover. Pick the guide for your part, get the parts and tools listed, and follow it from start to finish.

Guides and what you need

A heater (heat gun, heated table or hair dryer) is optional for all four. It softens the adhesive.

Before you start

• Back up your data.
• Let the battery drain below 25% to reduce battery risks.
• Protect the phone from static (ESD). Use ESD protection equipment if you have it.
• Work in a clean, tidy, well-lit space, and make sure you know how to use your tools safely.
• If you are unsure about any step, use a professional repair service instead.

How the battery guide starts

As an example, the battery guide opens like this:

1. Turn Kompakt off and remove the SIM tray with the ejector.
2. Optional: warm the back cover so the adhesive tape softens. Take care, the phone and tools may get hot.
3. Slide a plastic opener into the gap between the front and back, starting at the SIM tray opening, and work it around the edge to free the back cover.
4. Keep the opener out of the area 2 cm below the fingerprint button, or you may damage the fingerprint cable.

To put the phone back together, follow the steps in reverse. Use a new adhesive sheet and back cover, and thread the fingerprint cable properly through the frame.

Warranty and parts

• If your Kompakt is still under warranty, contact support before opening it. The warranty card excludes devices fixed or modified by someone Mudita has not authorized.
