How to create a new message group

Start a new conversation in the SMS app and add more than one contact or number. Group messaging arrived in MuditaOS K 1.4.0, so update first if you are on an older version.

Create a group conversation

1. Tap SMS
2. Tap the Plus icon
3. Select the first contact you want to message
4. Select more contacts, or type a number or a contact name to add more people
5. Write your message
6. Tap the Send icon

The conversation is saved once you send a message or leave a draft. If you go back before that, the selection is cleared.

Group chat or separate texts

In the SMS app settings you choose how Kompakt sends messages to several people. You set this for each SIM card.

• Group chat (MMS): everyone in the group sees all replies. Messages go out as MMS, so mobile data and MMS need to work on your plan.
• Separate texts (SMS): everyone gets the same text, but replies come back to you in one-to-one conversations and people do not see each other's answers.

Good to know

• If you have two SIM cards active, you can switch between them in the same group conversation.
• If you block someone who is in a group, you can still send them messages, but you will not receive their replies.
• Group chats started on an iPhone may not come through. Owners on the forum report that a newly created group works better.
