MuditaOS K 1.4.0

MuditaOS K 1.4.0 adds full group messaging, a Default Apps setting, a much better e-reader and Music Player, music controls on the lock screen, and many stability and design fixes. It was released on 27 November 2025 and rolled out in waves. To get it, go to Settings, About, Software Update.

Highlights

• Group messaging: text several contacts at once, as one MMS group chat or as separate SMS chats.
• Default Apps: choose which app handles messages and calls when you have compatible apps installed.
• E-reader: table of contents, footnotes, search, filters, delete books, and no screen lock while you read.
• Music Player: Folders tab, search, rename playlists, and play or pause from the lock screen.
• Security patches for low-level drivers (GPU, VPU, kernel) and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and modem.

What changed

Messages (SMS)

• Pick your group messaging option for each SIM card: a single MMS group chat, where everyone sees all replies, or separate SMS chats, where each person replies to you privately.
• Switch SIM cards within the same group conversation. Group chat notifications now work.
• If you block someone in a group conversation, you can still message them but won't get their replies.
• Going back from a conversation returns you to the same place in the list.
• Fixed crashes when another app is the default SMS app and after changing the system language, and a copy and paste bug.

E-reader

• Table of contents with title, author and chapters, plus Go to Beginning and Go to End.
• Footnotes, search in the library, a filter by reading status, and an option to delete books.
• A control panel for landscape reading.
• The screen no longer locks while you read. It locks after 3 minutes of inactivity.
• Scrolling instead of pages in the library, faster opening of large books, and the list updates when you add or remove an SD card.

Music Player

• Play, pause and skip from the lock screen widget.
• Search All Songs by title, artist or album. Recent searches are remembered.
• New Folders tab for music on the phone and SD card, with search, track counts and durations, and deleting songs or folders.
• Rename playlists from More options.
• Fixed autoplay, shuffle and crashes when storage is full or the SD card is removed.

Notes

• The first line becomes a bold title automatically.
• Easier search: clear with the x icon, and your search is kept when you come back.
• Pinned notes show at the top again, plus fixes for long titles, the back button and the cursor.

System

• Error message when a fingerprint is not recognised.
• Lock screen shows charging details or the music widget, depending on what the phone is doing.
• Bluetooth PAN turned on, and internet over Bluetooth tethering from another device now works.
• Accessibility Settings restored.
• Volume level shows the same however you change it. MMS settings behave better with mobile data off.
• Many visual fixes in System Settings, icons, the SIM and eSIM screens and Polish translations.

How to update

1. Connect Kompakt to the internet. Wi-Fi is best. If you only have mobile data, allow downloads over data.
2. Open the Control Center and tap the Settings icon.
3. Tap About, then Software Update.
4. Tap Update. If asked, read the licence agreement, tick the box and tap Agree.
5. Wait while the update downloads and installs, then tap Restart phone.

If an update is ready, you may also see New MuditaOS K update is available at the top of the Control Center. Tap it to start.

Mudita Center cannot install Kompakt updates. It only tells you an update exists. You always update on the phone.

If the update fails

1. Try the update again.
2. Check your internet connection is stable.
3. Restart Kompakt and try once more.
4. If it still fails, contact Customer Support. A factory reset is a last resort, since it erases your data.
