No. Kompakt cannot record videos and has no video player. The camera takes photos, and you can view them on the phone. Mudita may consider video support in the future, but there is no plan or date for it.
What the camera can do
- Rear 8 MP camera with a dual-colour flash (warm and cold LEDs).
- Photos are named with the date and time they were taken (since MuditaOS K 1.5.0).
- Landscape photos now save in the right orientation (fixed in MuditaOS K 1.5.0).
There is no front camera, so video calls are not possible either.
Why no video
Kompakt has a 4.3 inch E-ink screen (800 x 480). E-ink shows still images well and uses little power, and Kompakt is built around calls, texts and a small set of offline tools.
What about video apps?
You can sideload Android apps through Mudita Center, but they are not designed for the E-ink screen and may be hard to use. Apps that need Google services likely won't work. Sideloading is not covered by the warranty. See Does Mudita Kompakt support third-party apps?.
